Friends that shack together stay together!

So Luis Guillermo P. (high school bud) was in town and we went to the Shake Shack for a late lunch. Mind you Luis G is quite the burger connoisseur -and by that I mean a "chanchito"- and together we've visited Five Guys, BurgerFi, FatBurger, RokBRGR among others just to name a few. I guess we're always looking out for the perfect burger "good eats" in the greater Miami area. He ordered a pair of ShakeStacks (Cheeseburger and a ’Shroom Burger) and I believe doubled up. I had the SmokeStack (cheeseburger topped with Niman Ranch all-natural applewood smoked bacon, chopped cherry pepper) Great burgers no doubt all though my chopped cherry pepper garnish was a miss. Since my diabetes is on vacation until further notice, I went for a touchdown on 4th down and ordered a shake too!  Luis G who is notoriously re-known for his bad influence on anyone's will power, made no effort what so ever to dissuade me from my decision. Quite the contrary, he supported me by ordering one himself! The shakes are amazing! As a matter of fact when mine was ready and I went up to the counter to get it, some guy stole it with his burger! I had to wait impatiently for a remake. Worth the wait for sure! Anyhow, I'm still undecided as to which is my favorite burger. I think RokBRGR is winning at this point! What do you think? Give me a holler! Prove me wrong! Is there a better burger in Miami?

Hairy Mashed Potatoes

Went to the KC & Sunshine band concert this Saturday and had a really fun time. It was wild to see some really old couples reminiscing about there good ol' disco days and dancing while holding on to their walkers! Literally, this hip old guy was rocking back and forth within his walker, while his wifey (or geriatric date) encouraged him by slapping his butt cheeks in perfect rythem sync with "that's the way uh uh I like it ah ah" (slap slap slap... you get the picture) As for good eats....bad story to tell! We decided to go to the Hard Rock Cafe just because there were so many people at the other places at the Hard Rock Casino and we didn't want to wait long for a table. Anyhow we ordered some steaks and salmon dishes and to our gross surprise, the salmon had a side of human hair in the mashed potatoes! Naturally we complained to the server who responded "well it isn't from anyone in our kitchen" I sarcastically answered, are you suggesting I brought this gross hair in my wallet and somehow just surreptitiously placed it in the mash or what? He defiantly said he had no idea if it was ours and not theirs. They took the dish off the bill and comped us coffee and desserts. The food was disappointing but the comped creme brule with hot liquid caramel was delicious! Anyhow, if you feel brave and decide to go, make sure you request they completely do a "foreign hair inspection" on you before you order and risk getting accused of planting it yourself!

Fish Tacos & The Bull

Lunch today was quite interesting. We ended up at a place called the Cadillac Ranch in Kendal. There was so many TV's in the place I almost felt like I was in the middle of the field at the Dolphins game. And then I noticed it -wait for it- they had a mechanical bull. I thought to myself, after eating a huge lunch, it would probably be a bad idea to venture a ride on this thing. Actually, big lunch or not, it is still a bad idea to ride! Not for others perhaps, but for me, the mere idea of being pummeled off any mechanical device -controlled by some under tipped water with a grudge- is a no go. Oh yeah I almost forgot, the black and bleu burger was decent, but the fish tacos appetizer were a total hit. Order them for sure, and then lose them on the mechanical beast!

My First Post

My first post! How about that! Last night we went to Pride & Joy BBQ in midtown. Let me tell you the vinegar bbq sauce is outrageous - specially if you flood your St Louis ribs with it. Don't pass up the "bowl 'o burnt ends" appy. Oh and I shouldn't write this in public -being diabetic and all- a little bird told me the peach cobbler is to die for!
